Wherever it is possible we resolve family matters by agreement. Negotiated settlements and mediation are faster, cheaper and easier on children than a contested hearing. Where agreement is not possible, or where safety is in issue, we bring the application and argue it.

Common questions
- Do we have to go to court to separate?
- No. Most separations are resolved by a written agreement. Court is for the matters that cannot be agreed, or where an urgent order is needed.
- How is child support calculated?
- By the Federal Child Support Guidelines, based principally on income and parenting arrangements. We can give you a figure early so you can plan.
- What if there are safety concerns?
- Tell us immediately. Protection orders and urgent parenting applications can be brought on very short notice.
