Immigration
Immigration files fail on details. We prepare applications that answer the officer's questions before they are asked, and we take on the refusals and appeals others have already lost.
We assist with express entry and provincial nominee applications, spousal and family sponsorship, work permits and LMIA-supported applications, study permits, visitor records, and applications for citizenship. We also advise employers on compliance obligations for foreign workers.
Where an application has been refused, or status is at risk, we act on appeals to the Immigration Appeal Division, procedural fairness responses, humanitarian and compassionate applications, and admissibility issues arising from criminal charges. This is an area where our defence practice and our immigration practice work on the same file.

Common questions
- My application was refused. Is that the end of it?
- Rarely. Depending on the stream there may be an appeal, a request for reconsideration, or a stronger fresh application. The reasons for refusal tell us which.
- Can a criminal charge affect my status?
- Yes, and the consequences can be serious, including for permanent residents. If you are facing charges and are not a Canadian citizen, tell your defence lawyer immediately; we handle both sides in-house.
- Do you handle sponsorship for common-law partners?
- Yes, including files where the relationship evidence is the difficult part. Those applications are largely won or lost on how the evidence is assembled.
